You have created an engaging character. Their overall design implies fire or flames. Your linework is bold and emotional, which pairs very well with the moody facial expression. There is an interesting combination of saturated colors and muted colors. His pose is static, but you have created balance by using his scarf and sword to make dynamic shapes and negative space. There are only two things that stand out to me as potential flaws. First, it could be argued that the concept of 'little kid, big sword' is lacking in originality. Second from a technical drawing standpoint, you have his scarf blowing one direction in the wind (I assume it is flapping in the breeze anyways) and his hair is blowing the opposite way, which makes me think the wind is coming from two directions at once; visually it is a little confusing. That being said, I am still quite curious about your character, and your project. From this simple illustration I can tell this character has a past and I, as a viewer, want to know more about them. Great job! Can't wait to see more of this project.
